Chapter One

“Come on Brittany!” Heather shouted.

“Yeah come on Brittany!” Marissa shouted right after Heather did. Marissa always repeated Heather, but they are still best friends. Brittany is always the shy type. She is always too scared to do whatever the girls were doing. Brittany was a sweet girl with a shy attitude. There is also a girl named Caitlyn, she is normal for the most part. She is the girl who doesn’t care what people think about her and marches to the beat to her own drum.

Brittany was at the top of the big old tree house looking at the three girls below her. Caitlyn knew that Brittany would never come down the tree house so Caitlyn went up the tree house and waited with Brittany.

Marissa and Heather took off to pull a prank on Mark and Will. They were the meanest boys on the block. Mark and Will always pulled pranks or made fun of the girls.

Then Caitlyn tried to talk to Brittany but Brittany was too embarrassed to even tell Caitlyn how she was feeling.

“Come on Brittany; tell me why you don’t want to come down the tree house. The boys are always being mean to us, this is our chance to get back at them!” Caitlyn said.

“Caitlyn, you know how nervous I get around Mark and Will. They always make fun of me. They are either say I’m stupid, or a baby. And I don’t like it,” Brittany answered

“Well Brittany, how are you ever going to face your fears if you never go down this tree house?” Caitlyn asked.

“I’ll…”

“No Brittany,” Caitlyn interrupted. “We are going down this tree house and do what we have to do”

“What do we have to do?” Brittany asked nervously.

“We are going to go with Heather and Marissa and get back at the boys like we should have done a long time ago,” Caitlyn replied.

Chapter Two

Caitlyn slowly climbed down the tree house ladder. As Caitlyn got to the bottom the tree house, Brittany was still sitting in the tree house. She was putting her hands over her face.

“Come on Brittany,” Caitlyn shouted with a sigh. Brittany came down the tree house.

Brittany, you aren’t even scared to pull a prank on the boys?” Caitlyn asked.

“YES! Of course I’m scared to do that! But, I’m also sick of you telling me to come down the tree house!” Brittany exclaimed.

“So you’re saying that you are going to face your fears?” Caitlyn asked with a surprise.

“No! Of course not, I’m going home! I am not going with the boys! You can’t make me!” Brittany said confidently.

“Fine then, don’t go with me. I’ll be just fine with Marissa and Heather. Just think of it this way, the boys will call you a wimp forever,” Caitlyn said.

As the two girls fought, Heather and Marissa were pulling a prank on the boys. But, it wasn’t going to well. They tried to do the old fashion pour a bucket of water on their head when they walked through the door. This is what happened; the bucket was all set up. Then Will walked through the door as planned. He was supposed trip over the string that pulled the bucked down, but unfortunately that didn’t work as usual. They always tried but it never worked.

“Oh, you tried to trip me and pour water on my head didn’t you?” Will said with a smirk on his face. Neither Heather nor Marissa answered.

“Mark come here,” Will said with an evil tone in his voice.

“What did you want me for?” Mark asked curiously.

“I’ve got a plan, a plan that the girls can’t get back at,” Will whispered.

“What is it? Tell me, tell me,” Mark asked.

“Ok, this is the plan,” Will whispered the plan so quietly that nobody could hear him except for Mark.

Chapter Three

Brittany and Caitlyn finally met up with Heather and Marissa. All the girls were together. Heather, Marissa, Caitlyn, and Brittany were just standing on the sidewalk.

“We have got to make another plan!” Heather said.

“Yeah, what she said,” Marissa repeated Heather like she always did.

“First, you have to stop copying me then we’ll make a plan,” Heather said.

“Ok, I’ll stop copying you. Do you have a plan?” Marissa asked.

“Sort of,” Heather said.

“Can your plan involve hiding?” Brittany asked nervously.

“Maybe, we’ll see,” Heather said.

“You know that if Brittany has to communicate with one of the boys she’ll back out of the plan, and I’m not waiting with her again,” Caitlyn said all in one breath.

“Fine I’ll think of a plan that all of us can participate in,” Heather said confidently.

“Heather, we’re all counting on you to make the best plan ever, a plan that the boys can never get back at,” Marissa said. All the girls and all the boys wanted to make a plan that the other team couldn’t get back at. All the girls went home except for one. It was Brittany. All of a sudden the sky got dark and the street lights went on. All that was outside was the stars, the dark sky, and Brittany. She sat on the sidewalk and thought. She thought about her day, and everything that has been happened in the past couple days. Brittany thought that taking a walk around the neighborhood would be good to make her feel less stressed. But maybe that wasn’t such a good idea. As she walked down her street she was feeling a bit better. She kicked a rock down the street until she heard it. It was the scariest thing she ever heard. The sound was getting closer. She couldn’t turn back. She knew what she had to do, and what she had to do was stand up for herself. As she turned the she saw them.

Chapter Four

It was Mark and Will. “The sound of there high pitch laugh makes me shiver,” Brittany said to herself.

“Hey, Dork!” Mark said in his irritating voice. Brittany just put her head down in embarrassment. Then she shouted, “Why do you always make fun of me?”

“Why do you always run away from us?” Will asked trying to prove a point.

“Where are your friends?” Mark asked, “Did they leave you because you’re such a baby?” Then he gave her a little push.

“What was that for?” Brittany asked. “Why did you push me?” Then Will came up to Brittany and gave her a big hard push, so hard that she fell on the ground. She didn’t just fall and get back up. This was a serious fall. She fell on her arm. She didn’t want to do it, but the salty tears came on. She was in agony. She hurt herself before, but never like this.

“Help, help,” she cried. “Somebody help me.”

Then Mark and Will took off before anyone knew what happened to Brittany. As she was lying on the sidewalk crying for help an old woman came out of her house.

“Are you okay?” asked the old woman.

“I don’t think so, my arm hurts a lot,” Brittany replied.

“What happened?”

“Two boys named Mark and Will pushed me down and I landed on my arm.”

“I know those boys. They are trouble. They threw a rock at my window the other day.”

“I can imagine that, they always make fun of me.”

“Do you live around here?”

“Yes, I live right over there,” Brittany said pointing her good arm to her house.

“Give me your phone number so I can call your mom.”

“Okay, thank you.” The old woman called Brittany’s mom. Her mom picked up Brittany. Her parents took her to the doctor just in case. They got x-rays and found out that Brittany had broken her arm.

“How did this happen?” asked the doctor.

Brittany answered “Two boys pushed me down and I landed on my arm.”

“I’m going to talk to those boys right when I get home,” said Brittany’s mom.

“Maybe now they’ll stop bothering me.” Brittany exclaimed, “Mom, can I barrow your cell phone for a second?

“Why do you need it?”

“I need to call somebody.”

“Okay, fine, but who are you calling?”

“Just hand over the phone Mom.” Brittany’s mom gave her the phone. Brittany walked into the waiting room and dialed Caitlyn’s phone number.

“Hello?” A strange voice answered.

“Is Caitlyn there?” Brittany asked.

The voice said, “This is Caitlyn.”

“Oh, hi Caitlyn,” Brittany answered.

“Who is this?”

“It’s me, Brittany.”

“Hi, Brittany, Why are you calling me?”

“I broke my arm. I’m in the hospital right now.”

“What happened? What color is your cast?”

“Will pushed me down on the hard cement, and the worst part is that they left me on the sidewalk and ran away. My cast is pink. And when I get back from the hospital you can sign it.”

“Okay, I have to tell you that you picked a good color cast. I can’t believe what Will did. That is so rude. But, I have one question, When Heather, Marissa, and I went back home, did you go home?”

“No, I stayed outside. I thought that if I took a walk around the block it would make me feel better, but I guess not.

“Okay, well I hope you feel better. Will you be back tomorrow?”

“Yes, can you do me one favor though?”

“Yeah, what is it?” asked Caitlyn.

“Can you call Marissa and Heather and tell them what happened to me?” asked Brittany.

“Okay. I hope you feel better,” Caitlyn replied. Then they both hung up. Brittany just walked around the waiting room. She was once again was trying to make herself feel better. This time she knew she that she couldn’t get hurt. Then her mom walked into the room and asked for her phone back. Her mom checked out and they all went home.

Chapter Five

Brittany went up to her room right away and got on pajamas. Then she heard the doorbell. She raced down the stairs like a bullet. “Who is it?” Brittany yelled through the door. Nobody answered. Brittany peeked open the door. She saw a surprise. It was Marissa, Heather, and Caitlyn. “Oh, come on in. What are you doing here?” Brittany asked excitedly.

“How does your arm feel?” Asked Marissa.

“Are you okay?” Heather said before Brittany could answer Marissa.

“When do you get your cast off?” Caitlyn asked.

“My arm is okay, I am okay, and I get my cast off in three weeks,” Brittany replied.

“THREE WEEKS!” Heather exclaimed, “That’s too long.”

“Well I didn’t get to choose how long I get it on for,” Brittany said. About ten minutes later all the girls went home. Brittany went into room and she sat on her bed. Then Brittany’s mom walked in Brittany’s room.

“How do you feel Brittany?” her mother asked.

“I’m okay,” Brittany replied.

“Why don’t you get some rest.”

“Alright Mom,” Brittany said. Brittany’s mother tucked her into bed, turned off the lights and closed the door.

“Good night,” Brittany’s mom said. The next day when Brittany woke up she raced down stairs.

“Bye Mom,” Brittany said.

“Where are you going?” Brittany’s mom asked. Brittany raced out the door before she could even answer her mom’s question. Brittany looked ludicrous. She was wearing pink pajama pants and a yellow shirt that she got from a garage sale. Her hair or teeth weren’t brushed and she wasn’t wearing shoes. Everyone that saw her stared at her. She ran down the street to Heather’s house. She knocked on the door three times. Then she saw the door open. It was Heather.

“Go to the tree house. I’m going to get the other girls. We’ll meet you up there,” Brittany said.

“Okay,” Heather said confused. Then Brittany raced down street again. The next closest house was Caitlyn. She lived two doors down from Heather. She knocked Caitlyn’s door. Caitlyn answered the door. And what a surprise Marissa was there two. They had a sleepover the night before.

“What happened to you Brittany?” Caitlyn asked.

“You know I broke my arm,” Brittany said.

“I know you broke your arm, but what are you wearing, and why isn’t your hair brushed?” Caitlyn asked confusingly.

“I’ll talk about that later. Heather is in the tree house. I told her I’d meet her there. Come on,” Brittany said while trying to get the girls out of there house. Marissa and Caitlyn got out of the house and all the girls met up in the tree house.

“So, what did you want us here for?” Heather asked.

“I think we should stop pulling pranks on the boys,” Brittany said. All the girl’s faces were in shock. They were confused. Every girl was thinking the same thing. Why?

“Are you kidding me?” Caitlyn exclaimed.

“You must be crazy,” Marissa said.

Brittany, you’re right,” Heather believed. Once again Marissa and Caitlyn were shocked.

“Have both of you gone crazy?” Marissa asked.

Brittany said “No, I don’t think we should be mean to boys any more because that makes us just as bad as them. And nobody wants to be like Mark and Will.” All the girls agreed and started to laugh.

“You’re right. Nobody wants to be like Mark and Will.” Caitlyn said.

“Also, our friendship falls apart when we do that,” Marissa said.

“What do you mean?” Brittany asked.

“Well, I’m not trying to be rude to Brittany, but we always gang up on her when she doesn’t want to do something,” Marissa said.

“I agree with Marissa,” Heather replied.

“Me too” Caitlyn agreed.

“Me three,” Brittany said.

“I think we should just accept people for who they are,” Marissa said.

“Yeah, if somebody doesn’t want to do something, we should accept that,” Brittany said. All the girls agreed.
