Dear Parents,
You are invited to tour Washington, D.C! On Friday, October 8, 2004 our 5th grade class is sponsoring a trip to our nations capital. Your child is preparing a guided tour of important buildings and monuments in Washington, D.C. We invite you to visit our displays and hear our presentations. It all begins at 1:30 p.m. in room 51. I have included a review of the project requirements. These assignments may be split up between partners. One partner may want to build the replica and the other may want to do the informational poster. Both will prepare and deliver the speech. Much of the research will be done in class.
1. Monument replica or diorama. (Basically something 3-dimentional to display that represents the monument or building.)
2. Informational Poster of the monument (should include interesting facts and graphics.)
3. Tour guide speech written on note cards. Students are working on this in class. It would help them to practice their delivery at home.
4. Postcards of the monument to hand out are optional. Students may also add to their display with additional items, posters, pictures, interesting facts, etc. This in not required.
I appreciate all your support. You have amazing children. We are off to a great start this year at Goolsby.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cheri Garner
